Curriculum
Here at Minety C of E Primary School, we provide a broad and balanced curriculum which focuses on more than just purely academic learning.
We believe children learn better when they are encouraged to use their imagination and apply their learning to engaging contexts. Our curriculum provides many learning challenges throughout the academic year that require children to solve problems, apply themselves creatively and express their knowledge and understanding effectively.
We use our unique class structure to provide different apprach to the delivery of the National Curriculum which meets the needs of all the children at Minety C of E Primary School, ensuring that no child is ever disadvantaged and where, together, we flourish.

Maths
For our National Curriculum classes (Y1-6) we follow the Maths National Curriculum through the use of White Rose Maths.
Teachers use the outlines provided by White Rose Maths to plan and deliver lessons which meet the needs of each child in their class, ensuring that they support less able children and challenge more able.

History
English : Writing
With thanks to our very experienced English Leader, Mrs Nicola Ambrose our classes follow a Writing curriculum which is embedded in high quality read text. This provides our learners with the opportunity to study experienced and trusted authors before they attempt writing of their own and as such helps them to become stronger more imaginative writers.
Throughout the year, classes will have enrichment days and school trips which enhances their knowledge and experiences to help boost their writing.

Geography
English : Reading
Reading at Minety takes three phases:
Phonics,
Early Reading,
Secure Reading
Throughout the different stages, different aspects of learning to read are in focus.
With Phonics, we follow Little Wandle Phonics: more information can be found here.
With Early Reading, children move through Little Wandle reading onto longer chapter books where they are heard reading and also have their comprehension checked.
At the Secure Reading stage, teachers plan and whole class reading which supports all children to continue to develop children's reading speed, and comprehension.
